[07/19] Application for volunteers is postponed till Friday, August 31
To those who want to volunteer for the 2007 Saga International Hot-air Balloon Fiesta
This time of the year we usually send application forms to you, but we are going to change some part of them.
As a result we must postpone sending the forms to you. We are very sorry to you for being late. Please wait for some time.
There are several points we'd like you to understand in applying for volunteers. Please remember them for the smooth operation of this year's events.
1) This year we have three weekdays during the competitions, so we are afraid that we will have less vlounnteers than usual.
Every year we have volunteers who can work on holidays alone, and so we have to recruit those who can volunteer on weekdays. We appreciate it so much if you could take a leave of five days from your office by making shift with your colleagues.
2) If possible, please do not ask us to change or cancel your working days and / or time just before the competitions start.
We understand you come to help us in the intervals when you don't work and that it happens sometimes when you have to change your schedule to some extent. However, volunteering for the balloon competitions is rather technical. Therefore, we examine your application form and allot you to the jobs for which you are best suited. We often see such slogans like "Everybody can volunteer any time and any where," but it doesn't apply to the balloon volunteers. We ask you to understand the situation and cooperate with us. Thank you very much.
3) Interpreting volunteers are not wanted.
To our surprise, we often receive offers from those who say they can interprete for the balloonists from overseas. It is true that a lot of bgalloonists come to Saga from foreign countries because it is an international event. However, since the first year we have kept our principle to employ volunteers who can work as a crew member, not foreign language specialists. We believe it good enough that our volunteers can enjoy international exchange through their cooperating with the foreign ballonists. So, please understand our principle and offer your helping hand to us. Thank you very much.
