[01/20] A mysterious balloon.

Do you remember the black balloon which appeared at the launch site of the Kase River, Saga, during the 2006 competitions?
In the beginning of this year it established a new world record in flight duration in Hokkaido.

On December 24 last year Ms. Inoue, the pilot, and her crew arrived at Kami-shihoro together with her supporters.
They got prepared for the time of her establishing a new world record. According to the information they had collected previously. the north wind early in the morning was stable enough to make a long flight. Unluckily for them, the weatherman forecasted a violent storm raging beginning on December 27. As a result, it was decided that his challenge would be made in the beginning of the new year.

Fortunately enough, Ms. Inoue got an ideal north wind on the morning of December 26, so she took off at 7 o'clock with the rising sun. She flew south with the north wind till 9 o'clcok. Then the wind stopped blowing till 11:30, when the south wind began to blow pushing her back to Kami-shihoro. At 12:22 he landed at the point about 4 km from the launch site. Her balloon stayed in the sky for 5 hours 22 minutes 18 seconds.

She challenged against the fight duration time of 4 hours 10 minutes and broke it.
Her time was more than one hour longer than the last record!
All the crew were delighted with this wonderful record by Ms. Inoue. Soon after folding the balloon they celebrated his record with a big party.
However, she was not a person who stops another challenge once he has set a new record.

Yes, she made another challenge on January 3.
As she did last time she took off about 7 o'clock to fly south. About noon she took the south wind to return to Kami-shihoro to land about 14:00, breaking her own record. She stayed in the sky for 7 hours 4 minutes and 9 seconds!
Ms. Inoue said that in his last flight he heard the chime of noon in Kami-shihoro but that this time she heard it still in Shihoro. At that time she was sure that she could establish a new record. A flight of 7 hours 4 minues and 9 seconds was such a feat of his indeed.

Ms. Inoue said that she could set a new record thanks to her crew and thanked all the people there for their encouragement and celebration. She also said that she could feel the friendship of balloonists and that she was so happy and proud of being a balloonist. She confessed that at the time of landing he felt very sorry for her flight coming to an end. She really wanted to stay up in the sky flying till the time of sunset.

She is in the midst of reporting her time to the International Balloon Association in order to have it be admitted as the new world record. There remains a bit more procedures for her. Anyway, congratulations on Ms. Inoue for her great record! What will he challenge against next?
